HK Family Activities (28-29 March 2026)

Hello Reader

This week marks the start of HK Arts Festival so there are lots of fun events and activities which the whole family can get involved in! I've listed some kid friendly art things to go for buttttttt I'd also caveat that arts is for all ages! Go check out whats going on and if there's something that catches your eye just bring them along! Chances are they'll love it cause you love it, and you'll actually get to do what you want to do too (;

1. Wanchai: Art Kids at Art Basel Hong Kong

Art Basel is on this weekend (public days Friday–Sunday) and before you scroll past because "that's not for kids" — have you heard of Art Kids at Art Basel Hong Kong? A fully supervised, educational guided tour programme for children aged 5–12, run by Colour My World professionals, encouraging kids to look, think and talk about art in meaningful ways. Capacity is limited so book in advance here. It's sounds like a genuinely lovely way to introduce kids to a world-class art fair without you having to nervously keep them from touching million-dollar sculptures.

2. West Kowloon: WestK FunFest

West K is genuinely delivering this weekend. Quick highlights cause there's a LOT of free stuff going on - there's a retro family games area, get your culture fix with a free 30 minutes Cantonese opera movement workshop, free performances for dance, skipping, music and juggling. And of course, you can see the inflatable robot cats!
Some of the ticketed events I thought were more interactive and family friendly were Spare Parts Puppet Theatre – Rules of Summer ($280), Playful Tiger by Barrowland Ballet ($100), Bob Marley for Babies ($280), To Copy by Animal Religion ($280), Snowmelt by ALAN ($380). Only the first two are happening this weekend but I'm including the rest in case you want to buy tickets in advance (;

3. PMQ Central: Print Making Workshop

Rather than signing your kid up for a 'kid-friendly' art class, why not do something the whole family can enjoy (hello positive role modelling (; ). This is an experimental workshop where your everyday items become your artwork tools - materials are provided but you can also bring your own objects to use to print, as well as any a tote bag, a T-shirt, or any fabric item you’d like to customize. The best thing is that no mess in your house for $212 (ps - its organised by a non-profit art organization, HKWALLS).

4. New Territories: Spring Harvest at KFBG

A slightly different vibe for families who want to get out of the city. Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden is running a Spring Harvest experience — you visit the terraced vegetable fields, learn about local seasonal vegetables, and actually get to harvest fresh organic vegetables yourself (3 catties per participant to take home!).
It's $140 per person + entrance fee, suitable for ages 3 and above (under-12s must be accompanied by a parent), and sessions are capped at 15 people so it's nice and intimate. Language is Cantonese but even if I didn't speak the language, I wouldn't let that deter me - that's what google translate is for! Book here

5. Continued from Last Weekend: Flower Show at Victoria Park and Hung Shing Festival at Ap Lei Chau

Still ongoing from last weekend. Catch the Hong Kong flower show at Victoria Park with magic shows balloon twisting and bouncy games, and the Hung Shing Festival at Ap Lei Chau (I went last weekend for the lion dances which were a blast - looks like this weekend will be focusing on Cantonese Opera)

✌️✌️✌️ Sharing is caring - forward this to a fellow parent friend who's looking for weekend ideas or tell them to sign up with their own email here!

💜💜💜 Hit reply if you have any ideas for events / activities to suggest, or if I did a great (or 💩) job with this week's recommendations

Hello Reader It is BOILINGGGGGG - for me that means time to hide in the shade although I am equally imagining lots of families heading to the beach (; With that in mind, I'm keeping my recommendations strictly AC only - don't hate! 1. Vladimir Malakhov's lush production has gorgeous costumes, Tchaikovsky performed live by the HK Phil, and according tot...

Happy long weekend, everyone! Buddha’s Birthday falls on Sunday, so you’ve got three whole days to fill. This week’s picks lean heavily into Hong Kong’s best cultural traditions — bun towers, floating parades, island markets. Let’s go! 1. Cheung Chau: Bun Festival & Piu Sik Parade This is THE weekend for Cheung Chau. The famous Piu Sik parade — where kids in elaborate costumes “float” through the streets on hidden steel frames — kicks off around 2pm on Sunday (24 May). Expect mini...

Hey parents! This weekend is absolutely stacked — we’ve got Dr. Seuss on stage, affordable art that kids can actually touch and a dose of authentic Hong Kong culture. Let’s dive in. 1.
