HK Family Activities for this weekend **30–31 May**

Hello Reader

It is BOILINGGGGGG - for me that means time to hide in the shade although I am equally imagining lots of families heading to the beach (; With that in mind, I'm keeping my recommendations strictly AC only - don't hate!

1. TST: Kid friendly HK Ballet's The Sleeping Beauty

If you've been waiting for the right moment to introduce your littles to ballet, this is it. Vladimir Malakhov's lush production has gorgeous costumes, Tchaikovsky performed live by the HK Phil, and according tot he programme its genuinely suitable for ages 3+. (Pro tip: the 2:30pm matinees on Sat/Sun are more toddler-friendly than evening shows.)
📆 Fri 7:30pm; Sat & Sun 2:30pm & 7:30pm 👉 More info

2. West Kowloon: M+ Family Drop In: Imagination Playground

Giant foam blocks, zero instructions, maximum chaos — exactly what kids need. It's free, no registration required, and runs in 40-minute drop-in sessions. The Forum space is air-conditioned and forgiving of loud children. Get there early for the first slot. (Yes, I mentioned this before but its hot and I've seen videos trending on IG and it looks damn fun so excuse me!)
📆 Sunday sessions start from 1:30pm–4:30pm 👉 More info

3. Wan Chai: Hong Kong Comic Con

Three days of comics, anime, TV and pop culture at HKCEC. It's big, it's loud, and kids who are into any fandom will lose their minds. Expect queues and crowds, but also expect your child to remember this for years. I can totally picture my kid just going wah at all the costumes 😆 (Tickets from $158.)
📆 Fri-Sunday 👉 More info

4. Central: Green Liveable City at HK City Gallery

An oldie but a goodie - fully air conditioned, fully free, centrally located and honestly suitable for kids of all ages. See your kids drawings come to life, places to jump and torch lights to shine at digital frogs. Ok, it's better than I write. Did I mention it's FREE? Pop by Maxims for dim sum after, or the library is just round the corner too!
📆 Open 10-7pm on weekends (closed on Tuesdays) 👉 More info

✌️✌️✌️ Sharing is caring - forward this to a fellow parent friend who's looking for weekend ideas or tell them to sign up with their own email here!

💜💜💜 Hit reply if you have any ideas for events / activities to include, or if I did a great (or 💩) job with this week's recommendations

Happy long weekend, everyone! Buddha’s Birthday falls on Sunday, so you’ve got three whole days to fill. This week’s picks lean heavily into Hong Kong’s best cultural traditions — bun towers, floating parades, island markets. Let’s go! 1. Cheung Chau: Bun Festival & Piu Sik Parade This is THE weekend for Cheung Chau. The famous Piu Sik parade — where kids in elaborate costumes “float” through the streets on hidden steel frames — kicks off around 2pm on Sunday (24 May). Expect mini...

Hey parents! This weekend is absolutely stacked — we’ve got Dr. Seuss on stage, affordable art that kids can actually touch and a dose of authentic Hong Kong culture. Let’s dive in. 1. Wan Chai: Affordable Art Fair 2026 Don’t let the name fool you — this is surprisingly kid-friendly. They’ve set up a dedicated Art Loop Children's Art Tour every hour (lasts 30minutes) and there are hands on print making, painting and creative workshops. They also have a "Family Morning" session if you want a...

Hello Reader! Happy Mother’s Day weekend everyone! Whether you’re treating mum to something special or just looking for ways to tire out the kids (same thing, really), this weekend has a lovely mix of free activities, outdoor dirt and one very cute pizza party. Let’s get into it. 1. Quarry Bay: Books For Love @ $10 Charity Book Sale & Storytelling The charity book sale is back at Taikoo Place with 320,000 pre-loved books across 14 categories. It’s basically treasure hunting for bookworms —...
