Hello Reader! Happy Mother’s Day weekend everyone! Whether you’re treating mum to something special or just looking for ways to tire out the kids (same thing, really), this weekend has a lovely mix of free activities, outdoor dirt and one very cute pizza party. Let’s get into it. 1. Quarry Bay: Books For Love @ $10 Charity Book Sale & Storytelling The charity book sale is back at Taikoo Place with 320,000 pre-loved books across 14 categories. It’s basically treasure hunting for bookworms — kids can dig through picture books while you sneak off to the novels section. Plus there is a mix of Chinese and English free story-telling sessions throughout this and next weekend! If you're going for the story-telling, register in person at ArtisTree (1/F Cambridge House, Taikoo Place) from 12:00 noon onwards on 7 May 2026 (online tickets are sold out!). 7–10 May & 14–17 May, 12pm–8pm (10 May closes 7pm) More info 2. Sai Ying Pun: Fire Engines Day Free entry and a guaranteed hit with vehicle-obsessed kids. The Fire Services Department is putting on game booths, sea rescue demos, fire truck displays, and more at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park. Educational AND exciting — plus you might finally learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher. 10 May (Sun), 10am–4pm More info 3. Lantau: Children in Permaculture — Mother’s Day at Ark Eden A proper outdoorsy one. Head to Ark Eden for hands-on activities with soil — making clay bricks, painting with rocks, planting in the garden. It’s messy, muddy, and exactly what kids need. Bring a change of clothes. $450/child, $550/adult. 10 May (Sun), 10am–3pm More info 4. Cyberport: Pizza + Plants Workshop @ SEED by Farmacy Kids snip basil from a smart farm lab, top their own dough, then watch it blast in a real Neapolitan oven (chef handles the hot bit — fair). They get a chef's hat and apron, a sticker-decorated pizza box, a soft drink, and a HK$150 SEED voucher. Indoor farm plus outdoor waterfront park = contained chaos zone for the under-12 crowd. Ages 4+; under-12s need a grown-up, who makes a pizza for free too. Stay after for 15% off lunch, tea, or dinner. HK$411.24/child, advance booking only via WhatsApp +852 4459 2392. More info ✌️✌️✌️ Sharing is caring - forward this to a fellow parent friend who's looking for weekend ideas or tell them to sign up with their own email here! 💜💜💜 Hit reply if you have any ideas for events / activities to include Cheers, Lulu (@unaestheticmom42) |

Hello Reader It is BOILINGGGGGG - for me that means time to hide in the shade although I am equally imagining lots of families heading to the beach (; With that in mind, I'm keeping my recommendations strictly AC only - don't hate! 1. TST: Kid friendly HK Ballet's The Sleeping Beauty If you've been waiting for the right moment to introduce your littles to ballet, this is it. Vladimir Malakhov's lush production has gorgeous costumes, Tchaikovsky performed live by the HK Phil, and according tot...
Happy long weekend, everyone! Buddha’s Birthday falls on Sunday, so you’ve got three whole days to fill. This week’s picks lean heavily into Hong Kong’s best cultural traditions — bun towers, floating parades, island markets. Let’s go! 1. Cheung Chau: Bun Festival & Piu Sik Parade This is THE weekend for Cheung Chau. The famous Piu Sik parade — where kids in elaborate costumes “float” through the streets on hidden steel frames — kicks off around 2pm on Sunday (24 May). Expect mini...
