Hello Reader Thankfully this weekend there's much more going on in HK than last weekend - no guarantees on the weather though. Right now Saturday is looking drizzly and Sunday is looking rainy - but part of me actually prefers that to the blazing hot 38 degree weather earlier last week! 1. Kowloon Park: Chinese Cultural Heritage Day at Heritage Discovery CentreThis is the big one. Two full days of free activities including pitch-pot games, badge-making, dress-up with Han dynasty exhibits, and dinosaur clay modelling on Sunday. Saturday has a special paper crafting talk and guided tours (pre-register for some). It's free, it's educational, and kids can earn limited-edition souvenirs by completing challenges. π
Sat+Sunday 10am-7pm πMore infoβ 2. Discovery Bay: Handmade DB Night MarketThe last market before everyone disappears for summer holidays. It's outdoors at DB Plaza from afternoon into evening, with handmade goods, crafts, and that lovely seaside vibe. Perfect excuse for a ferry ride and ice cream after. π
Saturday 2-9pm πMore info β 3. Tai Po (Luk Heung Commons): "Every Month, One Place" Family DayThis community event in the New Territories is a hidden gem. Three activities happening: storytelling with picture book artist Connie Maoshan, a "Build Your Own Playscape" session run by Playright (free!), and Messy Art Play for under-6s ($20 materials fee). It's a 10-min walk from Tai Wo MTR and pre-registration is required. π
Saturday 11am-4pm πMore info β 4. Sai Ying Pun: MΓTH Boardgames & Jazz NightOkay this one's more for Sunday evening wind-down with older kids. The MΓTH Community Centre in Sai Ying Pun is hosting free boardgames and jazz from 5β8pm. No RSVP needed, just rock up. It's chill, it's free, and it's a nice way to end the weekend. π
